Overview

Join your FCC family as we read through the entire New Testament together from December 21, 2026, through December 17, 2027. Our purpose is to build a regular habit of reading the Bible, grow in our knowledge and understanding of God’s Word, and encourage one another along the way.

With a short reading each weekday, usually less than 5 minutes, we will share a common journey through Scripture. Read on your own, gather your family, or invite a friend to be your reading partner. You do not need to have it all figured out to begin—just take the next step with us.

How to participate

  1. Follow the reading schedule. Begin Monday, December 21, 2026, and read the assigned passage each weekday. Alternatively, you could read the entire week’s worth of text in one sitting of about 25 minutes or less. Whatever today’s date, that’s the best day to start!
  2. Choose a regular time. Find a simple routine that works for you, whether that is over breakfast, during a break, during dinner with the family, or before bed.
  3. Read and reflect. Ask: What does this passage show me about God? What can I put into practice today? Open and close with a brief prayer.
    Bible reading methods to try

Try keeping a Bible reading journal. Any of these simple methods works well written down.

    • S.O.A.P. Write down a Scripture verse that stands out, an Observation about it, how you'll Apply it, and a short Prayer.
    • Swedish method. Mark the passage with three symbols: a light bulb for something that shines out, a question mark for something hard to understand, and an arrow for something that applies to you.
    • Observe, interpret, apply. Ask three questions in order: What does it say? What does it mean? How should it change the way I live?
    • Lectio Divina. Read a short passage slowly two or three times, notice a word or phrase that stands out, reflect on it, and respond in prayer.
  4. Read together. Invite your household or an accountability partner to join you. Check in, ask questions, and encourage one another.
  5. Keep going! If you miss a day, use the weekend to catch up or rejoin the current reading. A missed day does not need to become a reason to quit.
  6. Join the conversation. Watch for a highlight verse, a question, or a link to another resource to help us reflect on what we are reading together. Share what you’re learning and discuss it with your church family.
  7. Track it. Check off each day on your monthly reading sheets, which will be available in the church lobby and on the website.
  8. Show it. On Sunday morning, add a charm to the lobby display if you kept up with the week's reading, one per person. This will be a fun way for us to show our community's commitment to being people of the Word.

Recommended resource

Since we’ll be exclusively reading the New Testament during this program, we recommend using a Bible such as the CSB Connecting Scripture New Testament.

“The CSB Connecting Scripture New Testament helps readers connect the New Testament to the grand narrative and overarching redemption story of the Bible. This unique and accessible study resource includes a robust cross-reference system that highlights Old Testament quotations, allusions, and parallels within the New Testament and promotes the underlying unity of Scripture. Book introductions, study note commentary, articles, and helpful charts and infographics are also included throughout to further highlight and explain important theological themes and recurring connections between Old and New Testament books.”
